John Ficken is the founder and CEO of the Quotidian Group, a leadership development firm specializing in the success of Fortune 500 executives. John works with senior executives and leaders, helping them and their teams handle increasingly complex business challenges with more passion, focus, and efficiency.
For more than 20 years, John has dedicated himself to coaching talented, dedicated, and ambitious leaders in understanding and releasing their unique potential, at home and work. He named his company Quotidian (Latin for “every day”) based on his understanding that leadership, like any other skill, can be developed much more quickly through intentional daily mindshifts and practices that progress over time.
John works with one-on-one clients, senior teams, and as a keynote speaker using his innate ability to immediately connect with people and help them explore what’s below the waterline.
John’s deep passion for creating a transformative experience for his clients has led him to be an integral part of the senior leadership development at companies such as Capital One. John is especially driven to help female executives navigate the unique challenges they face in the corporate world. He has coached senior executives, both men and women, at large companies such as American Express, CarMax, Duke Energy, Egon Zehnder, HealthPartners, and Dannon. John has presented his transformative coaching program before large audiences at Capital One and at conferences such as the Anita Borg Institute’s Grace Hopper Conference and Thomson-Reuters’ Aspire to Lead Conference.
Prior to launching The Quotidian Group, John served as the CEO of KRW International, a pioneer in the field of in-depth senior level executive coaching in the United States. In that role, John led the organization's transformation from a family-run firm into a more disciplined, profitable organization. In addition to his leadership responsibilities, John coached numerous senior clients and their teams across a spectrum of industries. He also partnered with Tony Schwartz, co-author of the best-selling “The Power of Full Engagement,” where he trained leaders how to better manage their physical, mental, and emotional energy. John has a substantial background in measurement, statistics and technology, and received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin and his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Minnesota.
